The Hide-Away Soul: How our distorted view of God sends us into the deep weeds, and how His love draws us out!

Above all else guard your heart, for out of it flow the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23)

Hope deferred maketh the heart sick; but the desire that cometh to pass is a tree of life. (Proverbs 13:12, Darby Translation) What are you praying for? What are you believing for in life? Have you had to wait longer than you have expected? This is hope deferred. Have God given you a dream far larger than you could ask or even imagine? Are you awaiting its fulfillment? This is a dream deferred.

Hope is the joyful expectation that what God has spoken to you will come to pass. This is God's name. He is I AM, meaning, "Whatever I speak will come to pass." We have been born again into a living hope, Jesus Christ. Hope is a person.

And as for the waiting, you simply don't always know the reasons behind the waiting. Little boy Joseph, sold into slavery, lived for more than ten years as a slave and a convict before he lived out the dreams God had given him about his future. (see Genesis 37-40 for the full account of Joseph's life.) Joseph's character gives us several principles to operate in while we are awaiting the fulfillment of God' dream for us. Here are two:

He maintained steadfast trust in God - "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding." (Proverbs 3:5) This is a progressive process, and God is faithful; He will help us along the way to trust Him more and more.

He made consistent choices that acknowledged the Lord - "In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:6) Even in the midst of great pain and suffering, Joesph expected God to move on his behalf.

In the grand scheme of things in the economy of God, Joseph's dreams for himself comes to pass. In the beginning, Joseph dreamt that his brothers bowed down to him. By the end of the account, Joseph becomes vizier of all Egypt, and his brothers bow down to him. Isaiah 34:16 reminds us to "Look in the scroll of the LORD and read: None of these will be missing, not one will lack her mate. For it is his mouth that has given the order, and his Spirit will gather them together."

Every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord has its mate in fulfillment! What God says about you WILL come to pass.

So, here are 2 things to take away from this blog:

1 - Keep a journal or a list of every word God says about you. Any prophecy that you receive will have a basis in the Scriptures. What God says to you now will have perfect agreement with that which He has already said.

2-Keep up-to-date with the means of grace God has given to "keep hope alive!" Prayer, Bible Study, Worship, Fellowship are the supply lines to keep you buoyant.

Any enemy who wants to win in battle doesn't have to kill the most soldiers, he just has to keep them from getting fresh ammo, clean uniforms, replacement boots, and healthy meals. The enemy of our souls knows how to keep us from the lines of God-supply, but "greater is He within me, than he who is in the world" (1 John 4:4)

Love God. He longs to love you with his everlasting love, and he will not let you down!
